Abstract
Purpose: To determine the changing in refractive errors of 6-year-old children who were at the end of emmetropization in the present and past.

Methods: Manifest refraction was evaluated to 6-year-old children(4,674 boys, 4,292 girls) who lived in Daejeon between 1999 to 2014. To identify the factors affecting to refractive error, the results were compared with mean refractive error on a year on year basis and the linear regression analysis was conducted by the analogy of year of birth.

Results: It was showed a significant difference in distribution of their type of refractive errors according to their birth year, when the degrees of average refractivity were compared into individuals born before and born after a certain year, myopia group showed a significant difference in the (-) direction. In the findings of regression analysis, the degree of average refractive errors changed in the more (-) direction in accordance with their birth year the sooner.

Conclusions: The degree of refractive errors changed to more (-) direction in 6-year-old children who were at the end of emmetropization by generation means that the occurrence of myopia is not only getting faster than the past but also getting increased. Therefore the extensive plan of management to considering prevalence and progression is required to preschool children.
